Spring & Summer pledge their support to alleviate poverty in Sri Lanka

Spring & Summ​er in partnership with Greater Giving Sri Lanka – a nonprofit organisation, donated essential rations in the form of dry rations and ready-to-eat food items to the Hapugasthenna Estate, Adaraganga.

The project which came to fruition under Spring & Summ​er’s CSR arm – ‘Hands of Hope’ delivered nearly 2,000kg of food items (comprising 15 different varieties), distributed to over 170 homes across the village in Gallalla.

The partnership with Greater Giving Sri Lanka offers Spring & Summer the perfect marriage of brands, as both organisations, through their CSR measures focus on achieving social justice, uplifting Sri Lankan communities across the island in order to alleviate poverty.

Speaking with Co-Founder, Spring & Summer – Mrs. ​Shyamalie Wijegunawardena, noted “At present Sri Lanka is going through one of its worst trials. However, whilst we are confident that we as a nation will continue to persevere, as we have done so in the past to emerge victorious and united, we still understand and deeply feel the suffering of Sri Lanka’s communities. It is with this understanding that we partnered with Greater Giving Sri Lanka to donate rations to 170 households that were in dire need of daily goods. We will continue to push for equality and to alleviate poverty for those around the nation as we have always done so, working with organisations that share in our brand ethos and community beliefs”.

Commenting on the partnership and donation initiative, Co-Founder, Greater Giving Sri Lanka – Ishanki Gunasekera stated: “Greater Giving is a nonprofit initiative focused on supporting low-income communities all across Sri Lanka to alleviate poverty, achieve social justice, and save lives. We believe each and every human being should have the right to a life of dignity & security. This means a life free from poverty, violence, discrimination, and human right violations. The Organisation was founded to bring individuals together that share a passion for giving back and uplifting the less fortunate communities in Sri Lanka.
