Lanka Industrial Estates Limited (LINDEL) Wins Silver at TAGS Awards…..

Sri Lanka’s pioneer and premier industrial infrastructure facilitator, Lanka Industrial Estates Limited (LINDEL), recently received the TAGS Silver Award for the Best Annual Report in the Land and Property Sector. The Award was presented to LINDEL at the 57th Annual Transparency, Accountability, Governance and Sustainability (TAGS) Awards, organized and conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, to recognize excellence in TAGS reporting. The Award recognized LINDEL’s annual report for the financial year 2021/22, titled “Sustainable Infrastructure”. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that LINDEL has been recognized at the Annual TAGS Awards, having won the Bronze Award in the same category last year.

The TAGS Awards recognizes the best companies in Sri Lanka in corporate reporting, both in terms of financial and non-financial reporting, to increase and strengthen standards for transparency, accountability, governance, and sustainability reporting in the country. The programme also recognizes organizations’ efforts to embrace digitalization and transformation to uphold the integrity of financial, environmental, and social reporting. Organizations that remained transparent and accountable, regardless of size or profits, while taking necessary steps to give back to society and protect the planet were given their due recognition at the event.

Expressing pleasure and remarking on LINDEL’s commitment to TAGS reporting, Rasika Cooray – CEO Lindel said, “It is indeed an honour to be recognized for the 2nd consecutive year at the TAGS Awards. As an end-to-end provider of industrial infrastructure solutions, we are uniquely positioned to support environmental sustainability and promote the same amongst our tenants while supporting them to achieve their own TAGS goals. Sustainability is a core part of our ethos, and we provide the best services in Sri Lanka for industrial waste management and renewable energy through our onsite treatment and processing facilities and solar power generation capacity. With an emphasis on creating a green future, we are committed to tracking and reporting on TAGS to our stakeholders, creating a culture of accountability and good governance through transparency. We take this opportunity to thank the awarding body for the recognition and reaffirm our commitment to exceptional TAGS reporting.”

Also commenting on the achievement, Chairman of LINDEL, Thimal Perera added, “When it comes to making investment decisions and tracking investments, investors want clear, accurate and well-presented data, information, and analysis. Our commitment to TAGS reporting has allowed us to provide comprehensive, holistic information to investors beyond simple numbers so they can understand the complete impact, performance, and value model of the business. This commitment to the highest reporting standards, with a focus on TAGS, has led to receiving this Award, which is an honour for us as Sri Lanka’s premier provider of industrial infrastructure facilities.”

For over 30 years, LINDEL has provided industries with suitable spaces for industrial activity, supported by a comprehensive range of industrial infrastructure solutions in line with global standards. Situated on 100 acres of land at Sapugaskanda, LINDEL is the product of a successful public-private partnership and is jointly owned by DFCC Bank PLC and the Government of Sri Lanka. Strategically located in Sapugaskanda, LINDEL provides tenants quick and easy access to the Colombo Harbour, Bandaranayake International Airport, and the Outer Circular Expressway. The estate’s internal road network is built for heavy vehicles, with sufficient width and using concrete, while industrial plots are available in 1–4-acre allotments with buildings ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 square feet.

LINDEL also provides all industrial amenities onsite, including waste management, an underground fibre optic telecommunication network provided by Sri Lanka Telecom, 20MW of electricity supply and an efficient storm drain system capable of handling up to 100mm of rainfall per hour. Sourced directly from the Kelani River, LINDEL also features its own independently treated and processed perennial water supply, capable of supplying up to 9,000 cubic metres of potable water per day, in line with SLS standards for potable water. A further buffer of 20,000 cubic metres is also onsite to ensure an uninterrupted water supply. Security, too, is provided onsite by LINDEL, with the additional benefit of the estate being located within a high-security zone under the close watch of the Sri Lanka Police and Army.
