Jevahn and Kaya Claims Top Titles at Prima-powered Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship 2024..

The Prima Sunrise-powered Sri Lanka Junior Open, the most prestigious golf championship in the country, concluded with resounding success, showcasing the exceptional talent and passion for golf among young players across Sri Lanka.

The prestigious tournament, held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) from 10 to 12 December, was a collaborative effort by the Prima Group Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Golf, and the Junior Development Committee of the Sri Lanka Golf Union, marking its 16th consecutive year.

With a record 116 junior golfers participating, this year’s competition highlighted the growing popularity of golf in Sri Lanka and the dedication of its young players.

The championship’s most competitive category, the Gold Division for boys aged 15 to 18+, delivered thrilling performances. Jevahn Sathasivam’s remarkable performance, with a total of 213, earned him the title. He finished just a single stroke ahead of Adithya Weerasinghe, who posted a total of 214. Reshan Algama secured third place with a total of 219.

Kaya Daluwatte emerged victorious in the Gold/Silver Divisions for girls aged 13 to 18+ and overall, posting an impressive 212. Kaya’s dominant performance secured her a massive 65-stroke lead over Anumi Karunathilake, who posted a total of 277. Dhanushi Wanasinghe took third place with a total of 278.

In the Silver Division for boys aged 13 to 14+, Kaiyan Johnpillai claimed the title with a total of 221, ahead of Thejas Rathiskanth, who posted a total of 223. Senal Nimsith earned third place with a total of 234.

In the Bronze Division for boys aged 11 to 12+, Revann Amarasinghe secured the title with a total of 163, with Lavindu Premarathne following with a total of 164. Divyeshz Silva claimed third place with a total of 195.

In the Bronze Division for girls aged 11 to 12+, Genuli Weerakoon earned the title with a total of 200, while Vihara Herath secured second place with a total of 211. Hesandi Gayansa Meepawala took third place with a total of 227.

In the Copper Division for boys aged 10 and under, Jaeden Sathasivam claimed the title with a total of 98, ahead of Yuvan Rathiskanth, who posted a total of 99. Jayith Guruge earned third place with a total of 119.

Mr. Sajith Gunaratne, General Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries, Prima Group Sri Lanka, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament’s impact on Sri Lanka’s junior golf landscape. “The championship not only provided a competitive platform for young golfers but also highlighted Prima’s ongoing commitment to promoting golf in the country. Over 16 years, this tournament has been instrumental in producing many rising stars, underscoring its importance in nurturing talent at the junior level.”

He extended heartfelt gratitude to Sri Lanka Golf and the Junior Development Committee of the Sri Lanka Golf Union, whose efforts made the championship a resounding success, and reaffirmed Prima Group Sri Lanka’s dedication to supporting the development of golf in the country.
