President begins discussions with political parties on forming an all-party government

President Ranil Wickramasinghe said the religious leaders led by the Maha Sangha, civil organizations, youth groups and the entire people have strong confidence and expectation about an all-party government.

The Head of the State mentioned this in the discussion held today (02) with the political parties regarding the establishment of an all-party government.

The President’s Media Division said three rounds of discussions with the main political parties regarding the formation of an all-party government were held today at the President’s Office under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Party leaders and members representing the ruling party Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna attended the first round of discussions and the second round of discussion was held with the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC). Leader of the CWC Senthil Thondaman, General Secretary MP Jeevan Thondaman and other representatives of the party participated in it.

The third discussion was held with the National Congress and a delegation of the party including its leader MP A.L.M. Ataullah participated in it.

The President is scheduled to discuss the formation of an all-party government tomorrow (03) with several parties and many parties including Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Sri Lanka Freedom Party, and Tamil National Alliance have expressed their agreement to join the future talks.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, President’s Additional Secretary Lawyer Chaminda Kularatne and others participated in this discussion.
