Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) recently announced its sponsorship towards the ‘Ritzbury -Thomians’ Schools Hockey 7s organised by the Matale Old Thomian Hockey Association (MOTHA) at an event held recently.

The ceremonial sponsorship handover took place on 30th of March 2023, and several representatives from Ritzbury and MOTHA were present at the occasion, naming Ritzbury as the ‘sole sponsor’ of the ‘Ritzbury -Thomians’ Schools Hockey 7s for the third consecutive year.

The ‘Ritzbury -Thomians’ Schools Hockey 7s will be held on the 9th of April 2023 at the Peradeniya University Grounds. Over 220 players representing 22 of the best performing schools at district level will compete in the tournament for much the sought – after A.J. Wijesinghe Memorial Challenge Trophy.

Given that Hockey is a popular sport in Sri Lanka with high spectator engagement, Ritzbury is confident that its position as a market leader in the Sri Lankan chocolate industry will ensure a successful and exciting event this year as well. In addition to the fact that Hockey is a popular sport in the Matale District, Ritzbury is hopeful that such engagements will result in the sport gaining traction among students across the island.

In addition to Hockey, Ritzbury is known as an active supporter of a wide range of sporting events in Sri Lanka including the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Athletics Championship, Vidudaya Ritzbury Swimming Championship, Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship, Ritzbury Junior National Rugby Championship and the SLTA Tennis Tens All Island School Kids TennisPlay Day. All these efforts made by the much-loved confectionary brand showcase its commitment towards developing the skills of the nation’s youth through sports.
